Raspberry, Blackberry and Lemon Infused Water with Mint

Fruit infused water is great for weight loss and to boost your health. In this homemade recipe, plain drinking water was combined with raspberry, blackberry, lemon and mint. This drink is essentially a detox water; the berries are rich in antioxidants; the fresh mint leaves improve digestion while the lemon helps burn fat faster. This hydrating beverage you can drink every day to refresh yourself. You can make your own at home using a variety of fruits, vegetables and herbs creating great flavours. The more of an ingredient you use, the stronger the flavour will become. The health benefits vary depending on what you add in it.  😊


WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Here are the ingredients you’ll need to make this lovely drink:

Water

Raspberries

Blackberries

Lemon

Mint

 

VARIATIONS

Have fun and create different variations of this refreshing drink. Make your water more exciting and healthier by adding a mix of veggies, fruit, herbs and spices. The combinations are endless!

*Fruit: melon, berries, kiwi, oranges, limes

*Veggies: cucumber, celery, carrot

*Herbs: parsley, basil, sage, rosemary

*Spices: turmeric, cloves, cinnamon

 

TIPS

Let’s have a look at a few useful tips:

*Make sure to wash/soak all the fruit, veggies and herbs before using them.

*Press on the fruits and bruise mint leaves lightly with a spoon to release more flavours. The longer you leave the fruit in the water the stronger the flavour. Leave for at least 30 minutes, but for a stronger flavour, let it sit for longer.

*Always squeeze lemon in right before drinking to get the most health benefits out of it.

*Sweeten this drink with sweetener, agave nectar or honey which should offset the bitterness of the lemon.

*You can also enjoy this drink unsweetened, depending on your personal taste.

*Multiply this recipe as desired to make a bigger batch for the following days. Cover any leftovers and store them in the fridge.

 RASPBERRY, BLACKBERRY and LEMON INFUSED WATER with MINT

(gluten free, vegan and refined sugar free)

 

 

Preparation time: 5 minutes

Refrigerating time: 2 hours

Total time: 2 hours 5 minutes

Yields: 4

 

Ingredients

*4 glasses of water

*1 cup raspberry

*1 cup blackberry

*1 lemon

*4 fresh mint leaves

 

Method

1.Wash raspberries, blackberries, mint and lemon. Slice half of the lemon and slightly press on the berries with a spoon and slightly bruise the mint leaves.

2.Throw all in a jug filled with water and place in the fridge for overnight (or at least for 30 minutes).

3. The following morning, squeeze in the other half of the lemon, give the drink a good stir and pour into a glass.

4. Garnish with fresh mint leave if you like.

*To Store: store this drink covered in the fridge for up to 2-3 days.

To Freeze: freeze the fresh drink for the best results.
