The easiest and simplest tofu squares you’ll ever make, using only 4 ingredients! Less is more they say and this is a great example of that! This breaded tofu recipe is light and healthy, the indulgent flavour is the result of the combination of the soy sauce and paprika powder! Yum! I can’t wait to make it again! π
INGREDIENTS
These are the main ingredients you need for this recipe:
*Tofu: extra firm or super firm works well.
*Soy sauce: helps with flavour and the coating to stick.
*Breadcrumbs: finely ground breadcrumbs work best.
*Paprika powder: my secret ingredient, a flavourful kick! You can use either sweet or spicy or a different spice if you prefer.
TIPS
Here are a few tips you might find useful:
*For extra firm tofu, keep pressing the tofu for 15-3o minutes with something heavy on top until you get rid of the excess liquid. Have a kitchen towel at hand to wipe liquid off; pat dry before using the tofu! I just pressed down the tofu for a few minutes with my hands yet I‘ve found them just fine!
*Instead of breadcrumbs you can use crumbled corn flakes or chips, or crackers.
*I chose the baking version here, if you wish you can pan-fry these tofu squares for a crispier result; you can do this on medium heat for about 5 minutes each side until golden brown.
*Make sure your tofu squares are evenly spaced on the sheet pan, and not bunched together.
