Lemon and Ginger Tea

Check My Pulse • Jan 27, 2021

Have you ever tried fresh ginger tea? Ginger tea has been consumed for centuries as a traditional medicine and it has a reputation for its soothing and healing properties. This ginger and lemon tea is a lovely, lightly crisp drink for warming up on cold days.  ☃️❄️Simply combine lemon with root ginger to make this refreshing drink, which is a great alternative to caffeinated drinks. I just had two cups in a row! I think you’ll be making this again and again too once you experience how easy and how satisfying drink it is. Dear friends, treat yourself with a cuppa! 😊

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Here are the ingredients you’ll need to make this lovely tea:
Ginger: the first ingredient! Peeling ginger is not necessary, it’s a personal choice. If you prefer to leave the peel on, be sure to scrub and wash the root thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris.
Lemon: the second ingredient! Choose unwaxed lemon, if you can.
Water: the third ingredient! Filtered or tap water, it’s your choice.

VARIATIONS
There are a few variations of this tea. These are optional flavourings, choose just one and add it to the boiling water.
*cinnamon: add a cinnamon stick
*turmeric: add a dash of ground turmeric
*lime: add a few slices of lime

TIPS
Let’s have a look at a few useful tips:
*removing the rind of the lemon will make the tea less bitter
*by peeling and slicing the ginger, your tea will be more flavourful
*for a stronger tea, allow to boil for 20 minutes, and add more ginger
*sweeten the tea with sweetener, agave nectar or honey which should offset the bitterness.
*you can also enjoy this tea unsweetened, depending on your personal taste.
*enjoy your tea throughout the week, multiply this recipe as desired to make a big batch for the following days. Let leftovers cool to room temperature, then cover and store it in the fridge for up to 4 days. Drink chilled or reheat for hot tea, heating up one cup at a time.

HEALTH BENEFITS

There are a lot of good reasons to use ginger tea as a part of our daily routines, which is a favourite drink for many. Ginger has been used as traditional medicine, it has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. Ginger might help with:
